How do we setup ITE2 NAS DDNS with the router?
In the last post: Setup DDNS for ITE2 NAS, this post will introduce what users should do to setup ITE2 DDNS if the network environment includes the router.
Under the router network environment, it can be separate into two types: [Public IP] and [Private IP].
Setup ITE2 NAS DDNS – Router’s IP is Public IP
In that case, just set the virtual server on the router (or Port Forwarding). Open the web page on the PC, then enter the IP: 192.168.1.1 to enter the router setting page.
Next, this post will introduce each brands’ router setting method example.
【ASUS】(The following 192.168.1.46 is NAS IP)
【TP-LINK 1】(The following 192.168.0.101 is NAS IP)
【TP-LINK 2】(The following 192.168.1.1 is NAS IP)
【D-LINK】(The following 192.168.0.99 is NAS IP)
【Mi-Home】(The following 192.168.1.101 is NAS IP)
Note: Please refer to the actual product manual for the setting method of each brand’s router.
Setup ITE2 NAS DDNS – Router’s IP is Private IP
In this scenario, the modem’s communication port needs to be transferred to the router; then, the router’s port must be transferred to the NAS.
Like the example above, if the modem’s settings page is 192.168.0.1, the router IP is 192.168.0.2, and the NAS IP is 192.168.1.9. Then move to the following steps.
【Step 1】
Get into the modem setting page (192.168.0.1), and forwarding 80, 443 port to the router (192.168.0.2).
【Step 2】
Get into the router setting page (192.168.1.1), and forwarding 80, 443 port to NAS (192.168.1.9).
And if there are multiple layers of the router in the network architecture, then so on, each layer’s router need to set port forwarding.
If the user still cannot connect to DDNS after all the settings are completed, please double-check the rules in the router are entered correctly. If DDNS even fails to connect, please contact device customer service for more information.
******Note******
User commonly uses the following ports. If other services are required to open for the external network, the rules can be added in the same way.
Please note that open a port may cause a security risk. It is recommended not to open them unless necessary.
TCP 21 port: FTP Service
TCP 22 port: SSH Service
TCP 445 port: File Sharing Service (SMB)
TCP 1723 port: VPN-PPTP Service
TCP 3389 port: Remote Desktop Service
